Society ActivitiesA genealogical program is included with the Society's annual meeting in May. Throughout the year we host workshops in area libraries and historical societies, which feature speakers on genealogical topics, introductions to the holdings of the repositories, and consultations with experienced members of the Society. The Society often cosponsors genealogical programs with other organizations. We are a charter member of the New England Regional Genealogical Conference, which holds a major biennial conference in New England and a member of the Federation of Genealogical Societies. Society board members take an active role in addressing issues of vital records access and other concerns of genealogists. Calendar17 Jan 2010

Genealogy Roundtable
Saturday, January 23, 2010 This is an informal meeting for society members as well as members of the public to help you fulfill those new year's resolutions to do more genealogy in 2010. Come on out and get inspired! Members of the Board of Directors are soliciting input on two topics:
Following that discussion there will be an open forum for attendees to share their genealogical research. Please bring a story of a successful search or one that has hit a dead end. Sharing research stories is a great way to discover ideas for your next steps in finding those lost ancestors. The Pequot Library has an excellent collection of genealogy materials and librarian Rod Mackenzie will be on hand to assist you with research after the meeting. *Save the date: *CAS is sponsoring an Ancestors Road Show in Newtown on Saturday, April 10. This is your opportunity to discuss your genealogy research with a member of the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council. This activity is free of charge and open to the public. An appointment will be necessary. We will send out more details in the coming months. Board MeetingOur next Board Meeting will be held on January 17, 2010, hosted at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, starting at 2:00 PM. |
